Fans complete 10,000-mile bike ride from Argentina to Kansas City to follow Messi and company at 2026 World Cup | Sporting News

A group of passionate fans has cycled 10,000 miles from Argentina to Kansas City, driven by their love for Messi and the upcoming 2026 World Cup. Their incredible journey highlights the lengths fans will go to support their team.

Three dedicated fans of the Argentinian national soccer team have successfully completed an extraordinary 10,000-mile bike journey from Gualeguaychú, Argentina, to Kansas City, where they will support their team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Vicente Conculini, Yamundu Martínez, and Miguel Silio began their adventure almost a year ago, on August 16, 2025, and arrived at their destination on June 2, 2026.

The Journey Across Continents

The trio pedaled through 17 different countries, carrying all the necessary gear for their long trek, including cold and warm-weather clothing and water supplies. Their only interruption came when they had to fly over the Darien Gap, a dense jungle region between Colombia and Panama that is impassable by bike. After flying over the border, they resumed their journey in Panama and continued through Central America.

A Rewarding Experience

Upon reaching Kansas City, the fans were greeted with cheers from fellow cyclists and spectators as they arrived at the hotel where the Argentinian team is staying. Vicente expressed their motivation, stating, “We don’t train like professional cyclists. We just love traveling, we love soccer, and the bicycle became the perfect way to combine both.” Miguel added, “The journey is hard. You go through cold, heat, and rain. And to find this reward at the end, honestly, it makes it all worthwhile — every single moment.”

Now, the trio can take a well-deserved break before La Albiceleste's first match against Algeria on June 16, 2026. Their remarkable journey showcases the passion and dedication of soccer fans around the world.
