Infantino has faced mounting pressure, including calls for his resignation and allegations from a British newspaper regarding a financial settlement made to a former lover during his tenure at UEFA. According to The Telegraph, Infantino, who served as UEFA's secretary general from 2009 to 2016, allegedly used his position to facilitate a promotion for an employee with whom he had a personal relationship. The report claims that this individual received a "six-figure sum" upon her departure, along with tuition payments for a business school amounting to approximately $60,700.

FIFA's Response

In its statement, FIFA acknowledged the importance of legitimate scrutiny but emphasized that such scrutiny should not distort facts or amplify unsubstantiated allegations.
