Recent data from TicketData reveals that average resale prices for matches in the U.S. have decreased by approximately 23 percent over the past month. Currently, the average entry price for a ticket exceeds $550, which is deterring many casual fans from participating. In Arlington, officials disclosed during a city council meeting that only 35 to 50 percent of the approximately 700,000 available tickets have been sold thus far. Similar trends are evident in the Dallas area, where ticket sales for matches like Netherlands vs. Japan and England vs. Croatia have dropped by 12 percent and 21 percent, respectively.

Market Hesitation

Industry experts suggest that fans are adopting a wait-and-see approach, hoping for further price reductions before committing to purchases. Robert Lodes from Metro Tickets noted that while the term "cheap" may not apply to World Cup tickets, there are still valuable deals available. This shift in consumer behavior has led to a slowdown in what ticket analysts refer to as “purchasing velocity,” with many supporters opting to monitor the market rather than make immediate buys. Keith Pagello, founder of TicketData, succinctly stated that the decline in prices is a direct result of insufficient purchasing activity to sustain the previously high ticket prices.
