Mathew Ryan is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the Australia national team. Born on April 8, 1992, in Plumpton, Australia, Ryan began his career with Central Coast Mariners before moving to Europe, where he played for Club Brugge, Valencia, and Brighton & Hove Albion. He has also had loan spells with Genk and Arsenal. Known for his shot-stopping ability and leadership, Ryan has been Australia's first-choice goalkeeper for many years, representing the Socceroos in multiple FIFA World Cups and AFC Asian Cups. As of 2023, he is a free agent after leaving AZ Alkmaar.
