Algeria's national football team, founded in 1962, are two-time Africa Cup of Nations champions. They won AFCON in 1990 and 2019, and famously defeated West Germany at the 1982 World Cup.

Djamel Belmadi took charge of Algeria in 2018 and led them to their second Africa Cup of Nations title in 2019, going on a record 35-match unbeaten run.
